WPS SPAM Emails

Posted Date: 10/08/26 (08:53 AM)

Good morning, WPS Families,

We want to follow up on our earlier message about the "Estate Sale" spam emails that some students and families may have received this week.

Since then, we have identified two additional staff email accounts that were compromised through a phishing email and used to send similar messages. We've secured those accounts, and our Technology team has removed the emails from our domain.

To be clear: this was limited to a small number of individual email accounts. It is not a breach of WPS systems more broadly. Our Technology team will continue to monitor accounts closely over the coming days.

If you received one of these messages, please don't reply, click any links, or open any attachments. Just delete it.

A few good reminders:

1. Never send money, gift cards, or payment information in response to an unsolicited email.

2. Never share passwords or personal information over email.

3. Be cautious of messages that feel urgent, unusual, or too good to be true, even if they appear to come from someone you know.

If you're ever unsure whether an email from the district is legitimate, please don't reply to it. Instead, contact the district or school directly to confirm.
