Husky Herald

January 30, 2026

Dear Ambrose Families,
Brrr… it has been a very cold New England week, but despite the temperatures, our Ambrose Huskies enjoyed playing outside in the snow! Many classrooms used their engineering skills and teamwork to build their own classroom snowman/woman. Students also enjoyed Fitness Fridays, where we paused several times throughout the school day for brain breaks and exercise.
Inside the building, Mr. Alves and our talented fourth and fifth grade students have been working hard to prepare for their upcoming music concert. We hope you will be able to join us on February 11th at 5:30 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there!
Last week, students in grades K–3 participated in the Middle of the Year DIBELS assessment. In compliance with Massachusetts regulation 603 CMR 28.03(1)(f), all public schools must assess reading skills in grades K–3 at least twice a year. Our district uses the mCLASS DIBELS 8th Edition assessment, an approved tool by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) is a system of assessments that helps educators quickly understand how students are performing on key reading skills. We administer this universal screening three times a year, fall, winter, and spring, to identify students who may be at risk for reading difficulties and to guide appropriate reading support. Results will be sent to parents on February 6th.
This month, Huskies are continuing to enjoy Fitness Fridays with fun movement breaks throughout the day. Be sure your student joins the fun this Friday when we cheer on the Patriots! Students are encouraged to wear their Patriots gear or red, white, and blue to show their team spirit.
Stay warm and cozy this weekend.
Mrs. Phelan

Important Reminders

Pets on School Grounds
For the safety and comfort of all students, dogs are not permitted on school property. We understand that many children are fearful of dogs, so we kindly ask that you refrain from bringing pets during arrival and dismissal. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
Lost and Found
To help us return lost belongings to their rightful owners, please be sure to label all of your child’s items with their full name. Last year, we donated many gently used items—beautiful coats, sweatshirts, and sweaters—to ENKA simply because they were unclaimed. We’d much rather return them to you! Please note that all items will be donated at the end of each month.
Thank you for your help! 😊
